ANton & Maite

After winning some of the most relevant national and international chamber music competitions, Maite León (Navarre) and Antón Dolgov (Saint Petersburg) have established as one of the most promising european piano duos of the moment. They claim the piano duo as a fundamental ensemble in the new musical scene, not only because of the extensive repertoire of great quality dedicated to this formation, but also because of its singularity and nature, in which the search for a common language among the pianists is essential.

The duo began at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (Spain) with the pianist Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas and the Duo del Valle, also receiving advice from the Duo Moreno-Gistaín and the Quiroga Quartet. After graduating with the best grades, they specialized in the art of the piano duo with the prestigious Duo Silver Garburg, at the Kunstuniversität in Graz.

Winners of the 1st Prize in the Mirabent i Magrans International Competition, 1st Prize in the Luigi Zanuccoli International Competition, 1st and 2nd Prize (VIII and VI editions) in the Antón García Abril International Competition, as well as a Special Prize for “The best interpretation of a work of García Abril ”. They also have the 2nd Prize in Musical Youth of Spain, 2nd Prize in the Ciutat de Vinarós International Competition and 2nd Prize in the Panticosa International Competition, among others. In 2018 they were selected by the Spanish Astists Association to tour Spain within its AIEnRuta Clásico circuit, presenting their project "Samsara" in more than 20 Spanish cities with a great reception from the public and critics.

In recent years, the duo has toured Europe and Asia, performing in venues such as the Grand Theatre of Harbin (China), the Grazer Musikverein (Austria), or the Saragossa Auditorium (Spain), and performed under the baton of conductors such as Ralf Weikert or Miquel Rodrigo. They carry out a large part of their concert activity in Spain, being invited to renowned festivals such as the Schubertíada of Vilabertrán or the Granada Festival. The music press describes them as a duo "with great sensitivity and musical taste" with a "perfect synchronization between both pianists" (Diario de Aragón) and highlighting an "admirable technical perfection, musicality and strength” (Ritmo).

In 2020 they release "Essenz", their first album, under the IBS Classical label, with works for piano four hands by Mozart, Schubert and Mendelssohn, as well as their own transcription of the ragtime "The Serpent's Kiss" by the composer William Bolcom. With this project, Maite and Anton reflect on the essence of the piano four hands, in an album that aims to highlight the important Central European heritage for the consolidation of the genre, leaving a window open to the future.
